If there is no struggle, there is no progress” ~ Frederick Douglass

For today’s blog, we want to continue to celebrate Black History Month. We wanted to discuss the Top 5 Black-Owned Tech companies that have impacted or continue to impact the world. These companies have rocked the tech world and have opened many opportunities as well. However, a recent survey revealed that only “9% of college students graduating with a degree in computer science were black”. Unfortunately “many people of color felt they had unfairly been passed over for a promotion or faced stereotypes”. It’s important to recognize that discrimination, sexism, and stereotypes are still prevalent in tech today. However, we are starting to see small changes in the tech world. As more black-owned tech leaders step up, they are opening doors for minorities hoping to grasp an opportunity. It is our hope that the tech world will become more diverse and less discriminatory.

Before we reveal our list, we wanted to mention a favorite Youtuber and fellow tech fanatic: Marques Brownlee. Personally, I’ve been a fan of Marques since 2012 and always looked for his insights when it came to the latest gadgets. Whenever I make a purchase decision, I rely on his reviews, perspectives, and opinions. To check out his videos, click this link.
